"Sawadee! My name is Apinun, and currently a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park. I guess the picture says it all right.kidding. I don't know why that picture is up there, but anyway here goes.

Lion dance started out when my friend Wilson told me about it, and at first I thought he said do you want to Line Dance. I was like um.did I hear you right. Practice started out at the HHP building of University of Maryland, and I was there at the time.so I just decided to check it out. Now I understand."Lion Dancing", Mokyi was instructing the practice, and that's how it all began. There were about 6 or 7 of us, just in the big hall, starting out with some stretches, and then practicing some movements. As time went on, we got kicked out of the HHP because of safety reasons. Then the training was held else where, and I had stopped going for a bit because of schoolwork.

I was out for about a month or two then later after the 10 th time I said I would come I actually came to practice again. Practice was either held at Mokyi's house, outside somewhere, and in a room in the CSPAC of UMCP. From then on I came to most of the practices, and started to do real performances in front of audiences.

I enjoy doing Lion Dancing, and during these times I have made many new friendships along the way. I like the adrenaline feeling every time I am about to perform, and I still get the goose bumps even after many performances. So for all the people out there, I encourage you to come and see what Lion Dancing is about!"
